Oh, squee! I just got my allure beauty box and it’s full of stuff. It comes in a nice, nondescript brown box and you open it to see this:
A nice red box with a lift off lid that fits just right inside the box. Then you open it to see the nice beauty box information pamphlet that tells you all about the gorgeous items you received. So I read through the info and I found out that I was pretty excited about what’s in the box.
Here goes: It’s got a dry shampoo. I’m not much of a user of dry shampoo, and this info packet says that it is really good at being a dry shampoo and not much else – so I will use it on my daughter’s hair who loves to go for days without washing. I can spritz her hair and keep it looking fresh without her noticing too much. It is the Klorane dry shampoo sample size.
The other items (for the most part) I used today while doing my makeup. I love them.
First off, I used the SkinCeuticals Reservatrol BE before I put on my lotion. It’s a very light cream and it glides on smooth. I was afraid to use too much but it really just sank in and smoothed on. I will use a little more next time just to get full face coverage, but either way it’s making my skin feel great. It says to use it at night, but I am terrible about getting my face washed and ready for bed so I will use it in the AM for the next few days (until it’s gone) and try to see if I notice a difference. I have a few wrinkles, and it says it works on those. You get one of 4 SkinCeuticals products: SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic, SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel, or SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Defense or the one I got: SkinCeuticals Reservatrol BE. While these products are not cheap, if they work they are priceless, right?
After I put on my moisturizer, I added the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Oil-Free. Wow, this stuff is smooth going on and feels like it’s gone right away. I could not believe how awesome it felt. I have been using Revlon Primer, but even though the price is a little higher, I am going to switch. Every time I wear my primer under my foundation, I get compliments on my skin. It never fails. People tell me what great skin I have. And today, I got another compliment. And my skin is not greasy – it feels smooth and soft. Love this stuff.
Then I used the Pop Beauty Kajal Pen in Inky Purple. Wow, purple is not a color that I would have bought on my own, but it looks great. It’s almost a grey purple, and not the striking color purple you might expect. It is a little hard to put on but that is normal for kajal liners, so I hear. I put it on as lower lid and upper lid liner and smudged it with my finger instead of the built in sponge. I like it alot, the only part I don’t like is how hard I feel like I have to press to get it to go on. You might want to put it on a little heavier and smudge with your finger to see more effect than just a little change. But the color is beautiful.
For softer skin – for very dry and sensitive skin, they have a sample size of the Eau Thermale Avene Body Oil. It’s a weird oil, kind of heavy. I put it on my hands after completing my makeup and it sank in but left a glossy look to the skin. Not a problem, didn’t seem to get onto anything. But it did take the wintertime dry and tightness out of the hands. My husband has terribly dry hands so I am going to ha
ve him use this at night. It kind of smells like a fresh mowed field, if you know what I mean. I liked the scent, but it’s different. Which makes me feel okay about having my hubby try it since it’s not floral and flashy. I think if you have dry skin, you will love it.
Finally, my new favorite scent is the candle – Illume Blackberry Absinthe Candle. This smell is wonderful. I am not a fan of vanilla but I don’t hate it. This smells like warm masculine spice and orange. I believe the information says it’s blackberry and orange with sandalwood, rose, and patchouli. It’s an interesting blend but I love it. I hate blackberries so I was worried but it’s not blackberries that you smell. Get it for your favorite man or yourself if you like those scents.
There is a bonus full size item too: A Chap Stick Total Hydration lip balm in Soothing Vanilla. Just what your dry, chapped lips need. I have put it on over and over this morning and it feels great. Going to stick it in my purse to use all the time.
Almost everything in this kit I will use. Some will go on to be my favorite things. For now, I think I have found some excellent items to try that I never would have – which I believe is the point of the kit. Until next month – see you later.
